Journal Sync (version 2.1) is a desktop application that syncs Microsoft Outlook's Journal with Pocket Informant 8's Journal on Windows Mobile 2003, 5.0 and 6 Pocket PC or Smarphone devices.
Pocket Informant includes a Journal feature that allows you to create un-linked journal items as well as items linked to a specific contact, task, or appointment. But Pocket Informant alone will not sync the Journal to Outlook. Journal Sync takes that one step further and syncs up your data to Outlook through the ActiveSync connection on the desktop.
The Journal is a feature of Pocket Informant based off the desktop Outlook version. It can be used for many many different things. For example, many people use it to track phone calls or billable hours per contact. Some people use it for quick notes on the progress of a task.
What the Journal Sync does is sync up the data between Pocket Informant's Journal Database and the Oulook Journal on the desktop. This means that your journal can now go with you everywhere you go - with the best PIM on the market! Journal Sync does NOT add any new features to Pocket Informant itself. However it does require Pocket Informant on the Pocket PC to function. Journal Sync is just the syncing application. Pocket Informant provides the journaling. Together they provide a complete Journaling solution.
Note that even though the purchase page shows only Pocket PC style devices in the "Devices" list, you can ignore that, since JS is for both Smartphone and Pocket PC devices.
