ACC SPECT MPI Appropriateness Tool description

Designed with the busy clinician in mind, this innovative decision support application helps guide physicians in the ordering of SPECT MPI for the detection and risk assessment of coronary artery disease.

Designed with the busy clinician in mind, this innovative decision support application helps guide physicians in the ordering of SPECT MPI for the detection and risk assessment of coronary artery disease.

Based on the 2005 ACC/ASNC Appropriateness Criteria, the tool can quickly identify which patients may require an imaging test and those patients for whom other diagnostic strategies are likely to have a higher yield.

Look at the Benefits:

* Save time and effort: get the results of complex analyses with only a few clicks or taps
* Implement ACC/ASNC Appropriateness Criteria in your practice
* Avoid time-consuming pre-certification for inappropriate patient indications
* Justify imaging test orders for patients with appropriate criteria
* Ensure high quality care for your patients
* Demonstrate professional commitment to overall stewardship of resources

Leading Expertise in an Easy-to-Use Format:

The application contains three quick and easy tools to help guide test ordering:

1. Symptomatic Patient -- Pre-Test Probability Appropriateness Calculator
2. Asymptomatic Patient -- Framingham Risk Appropriateness Calculator
3. Perioperative patients, patients with prior imaging test results, patients with known CAD, post revascularization patients – Appropriateness Algorithm

The calculators can be used to determine the appropriateness of test ordering if a patient is being considered based either on symptoms or cardiovascular risk alone. These calculators have built in all the equations (Framingham and Diamond and Forrester) for determining risk, so clinicians need only enter basic patient info such as age, gender, and blood pressure to obtain an answer. For other patients, an algorithm asks a few simple questions about potential reasons for ordering the test to determine the appropriateness of the order.

Plus, with Skyscape's powerful SmartLink cross-linking capability you can quickly and easily access any related disease and diagnostic topics across your entire mobile reference library.
