The online experience is what makes Medieval Kings Chess 2 really fun. Join ladder matches or make some regular matches to play up to 16 simultaneous "chess by mail" opponents. Moves are made one at a time but if you find one of your opponents online you can play a live game. Multiplayer Chess gets a lot of action mid-day: Perfect for lunch lines or goofing off at work.
The Rules:
Objective:
Strategically place your pieces to checkmate the opponents King. A game ends in a draw if there is a stalemate. This can occur when:
1. Both players do not have enough pieces to force a checkmate.
2. The player in turn is not in check and has no valid moves.
In-Game Controls:
- Move the cursor left or right with the trackwheel.
- Use the space bar, enter key or press the trackwheel to select a piece.
- Press Escape to unselect a piece.
- Once a piece is selected, scroll through all possible moves with the trackwheel.
- Press the trackwheel, enter key or space bar to make a move.
In Game Menu:
- While in the game, pressing the Escape key will bring up the in-game menu.
- From the in-game menu you can undo a move, save the game, return to main menu, or show the last move made.
- The escape key from the in-game menu returns to the main menu.
- To return to the game select Continue.
Main Menu:
- From the main menu you can create a new game, load a saved game, change options, or continue the current game.
- To return to the game select Continue.
Multiplayer:
- Play vs. other people online with the Multiplayer mode.
- Before playing multiplayer, configure your network game by clicking the 'Network Setup' menu option.
- The concept of the Medieval Kings 2 Chess Multiplayer is that you can play upto 15 games at once. Jump between games on-the-fly if you like or play an entire game in one sitting.
- Your active games are displayed by clicking 'the list active games' menu item from the main network menu.
- In your 'Active Games List' The '!' indicates if it is your turn in that game. Other useful information is presented for each of your active games.
- Once a game ends (checkmate, resign, or stalemate) it is automatically deleted from your list of active game. If you are away from the game when your opponent makes their move, you can see this move when you resume the game (through the show last move option).
- To add games to your active-game-list either create a game or join a public game.
- Creating a public game will allow for anybody to join the match. If you want to create a game between you and a friend just create a private game and tell them the game name and password. They can then join the private through the 'join private game' menu item.
- Creating a quick-match create a game between you and a an opponent.
- Ladder match will match you with an opponent of equal skill. These wins count to your ladder record. The more wins you get the more ladder points you accumulate.
Loading/Saving:
Your game will be auto-saved when exiting while a game is currently in progress. The auto-saved game will be loaded when Medieval Kings is launched (as the Continue menu item). Additionally, you have the option of saving and loading to/from one of the three save game slots.
