The DVB-H (Digital Video Broadcast – Handheld) Electronic Service Guide (ESG) specification defines an ESG data model to describe available mobile TV services. The ESG data model is defined based on XML Schema and it is aimed at being consistent across all implementations of a system to ensure interoperability.

This software ("DVB-H ESG Simulator") uses Extensible Stylesheet Language (XSL) to transform the XML-based ESG Instance of the ESG Data Model into a visual preview of the ESG on a DVB-H capable mobile device. "DVB-H ESG Simulator" can be used to experiment with DVB-H ESG XML files, or to create screen captures (e.g. illustrations for DVB-H trials etc). Beta 2 onwards support playback of MPEG4 AVC video streams.
