NoKeyboard description

Freeware program to overcome the "775 serial port already in use".

This simple freeware program overcomes the "775 -serial port already in use" error that Handspring / Visor users sometimes get when they try to run a program that access the serial port, for example a program that interfaces to a GPS.

The workaround for this error is to disable the keyboard process via software. NoKeyboard allows you to disable the keyboard by disabling it in OS. After this it is possible for other programs to open the serial port.

There is no need to re-enable the keyboard support, because it is automatically re-enabled each time the device is placed into the cradle.

To use the program, you first insert your serial cable into your PDA. This will launch the serial cradle daemon.

Then you run NoKeyboard to disable the serial cradle daemon.
Exit NoKeyboard and start your normal serial application.

The serial daemon will not restart started until the Visor is removed and re-inserted into the serial cradle.

This allows you to run your other program because it can now open the serial port.

Requirements:

· Handspring Visor
· Palm OS v3.0
